How it plays

The Daily Cryptic gives you one new cryptic clue every day. You can solve it straight up, use progressive hints if you get stuck, then see an explanation of how the clue works. It’s designed to be quick enough to become part of a daily puzzle routine, while still giving you that satisfying “aha” moment cryptics are great at.

Why we made it

We love daily word games, but full cryptic crosswords can feel like a lot if you’re new to them. The idea was to make cryptics more approachable: one clue at a time, every day, wrapped in a fun old-fashioned newspaper theme. It’s meant to work for experienced cryptic solvers, but also help curious beginners learn how this strange little language of clues actually works.

What’s next

We’re continuing to refine the daily experience, add more ways to learn cryptics, and explore features that make the game more social and shareable. The goal is simple: make The Daily Cryptic a small, fun part of people’s everyday puzzle routine.
