Aerobolt

Greek myth as airborne combat fits better than it sounds. Half those stories are about one figure getting above another, after all. It hands the fights a scale that no ground arena can reach. I'd like more of the pantheon in here than the premise currently spends, but soaring and striking is a clean fantasy to build on.

Flight plus melee is an awkward pairing. You spend all your speed on the approach and then need something to do at zero. Gliding is the right base layer to solve that from. If the turn rate is generous enough to re-engage without flying full circuit, it works, and everything else follows from there. Correct thing to have focused on.

The mythology is a coat of paint over a fairly plain aerial scrap, and the pitch lavishes more care on gods than the game itself seems to. Gliding feels good for roughly as long as gliding on its own can hold a game up. That isn't long. There's a real hook buried in here somewhere... it just hasn't finished becoming a game yet, so it's a no from me for now.

Gliding about hitting people, and the flight has real heft to it. You trade height for speed and you feel the trade happening. The Greek mythology layer is thin, but the dogfighting works. For something built around a single good idea, it goes further than it had to.
