Call something a love letter and you have set your own bar. Anyone can do the trappings of an 80s crawler now. What kept those games alive was resource pressure, and I see no sign of it here. So for now this is an aesthetic, not a dungeon.
Grid crawlers are creeping back, quietly, and this one plants itself right in the middle of that tradition. Corridors. A map you keep in your head. Dark fantasy is a natural fit, because the format is already claustrophobic on its own. Give the encounters some teeth and the atmosphere will carry everything else.
Step, turn, step, wall. Four directions and not one more. That shape is older than my playing career and it still reads instantly, and thats the giveaway it was a good shape to begin with. Plenty of people borrow the font. Not many build the thing underneath it.
Grid movement, turn by turn, graph paper by your elbow. It's a love letter and it knows the form it's writing in. That rhythm of corridor, corridor, then something horrible is bang on. Combat is thin. The atmosphere hauls it a long way further than thin combat should allow.
