Petting an animal on a loop has to be the calmest verb there is, and then the void around it keeps insisting that it isn't calm at all. I found that funnier and gentler than the horror label suggests. Very little is asked of you, which is either the point or the problem depending on your mood... I was in the mood.
Right, so the maker is upfront that this is a slice of something aimed at VR, and it plays exactly like one. An incremental built on a single repeated action needs numbers pulling you forward. The penguin is a good bit, credit where it's due. Not enough of a game yet for me to send anyone over.
Incrementals and horror are running the same trick, if you sit with it for a minute. Both want you repeating something well past the point of comfort. So: pet the penguin. Keep petting. Mind your fingers. The loop is legible within seconds and the void handles everything after that. You can tell it's a slice of something bigger and it shows, but the urge to go again is already in place.
