Rogue Lith

Two influences and a single line of description. Not much to build on, and once you're in, the game turns out to sit at roughly the stage its pitch does. The stealth layer and the free flight layer haven't been reconciled, so most encounters collapse into shooting anyway. There is real promise in that combination. It just isn't far enough along for me to send anyone to it yet.

Descent and Thief is a hell of a pair of parents to claim, and the overlap is more real than it sounds. Both are about being somewhere dark that you shouldn't be. Corridors close in, runs carry nothing forward, and the enemies are ones you'd sooner slip past than fight. Right now the setting is doing more work than the systems. It's a setting worth being in, mind.

Six degrees of freedom welded to stealth is an odd pairing and I respect the nerve. Free flight has you re-orienting constantly, and that's the hardest possible state to sneak in, so the tension is earned here rather than borrowed. The control scheme takes a minute to sit right in the hands. After that, it's the most interesting movement I've had hold of in a long while.

Descent crossed with Thief is a great pitch and a punishing one. Six degrees of freedom plus stealth asks you to be disoriented and careful at the same moment, and right now the disorientation is winning by more then a little.
