Normally these throw a wall of stuff at you before youre allowed to shoot anybody. Not this one. You get a gun and you go. Rounds are quick, nobody is grinding anything, and if a couple of other people are about it makes a decent little burst.
A whole generation learned FPS geometry off arena maps, then watched the genre wander away into loadouts and unlock tracks. This swings straight back at the old shape. Spawn, grab, frag, repeat. Nothing to level up, nothing to earn. It was right the first time.
Three words is the whole description, and I read that as honest rather than lazy. It's a PvP arena shooter, and a PvP arena shooter needs people in it. I see nothing here about bots or anything solo to fall back on, so on a quiet evening the design just sits there, inert. I like the intent a lot. I can't recommend a game whose value rests completely on who else turned up.
Two things decide an arena shooter: how the mouse-to-crosshair path feels, and whether hits register while someone is strafing hard. Naming Unreal Tournament as the reason it exists is a promise about movement speed as much as about weapons. Hold that speed and there's nothing more interesting in a browser. Miss it and nothing else rescues it.
Most evenings I haven't got the constant alertness an arena shooter wants from me. Credit where it is due, this one is honest about what it is (somebody missed the old Unreal Tournament cadence and went and rebuilt that cadence), and the people who want it will want it badly. I'm not one of them. I need a game I can look away from.
